Adams County Joins the Fight to Turn Illinois Red.
The Adams County Republican Central Committee has become the latest local Republican organization to join Surus Illinois' Battle Program, bringing the total number of organizations on the state's one of a kind program to thirty. Adams County, located along the Mississippi River is the furthest West county in the state and will be the first county in Western Illinois in which the Battle Program will be implemented.
Adams County has a proud history of Republican activism. In September of 2009, Quincy, Illinois, the Adams County seat was home to the one of the first large Tea Party rallies in the nation. The rally held in Quincy's Washington Park featured guest speakers who would rise to prominence in the conservative movement in the following years including Andrew Breitbart and Dana Loesch.
Jon McCoy, the Chairman of the Adams County Republicans, highlighted the organization's excitement to get started on the key priorities of the Battle Program: “Our Precinct Committeemen are motivated and ready to build a stronger Republican Party here in Adams County. We're thrilled to join the fight to Turn Illinois Red," said McCoy. "I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish with our new partners at Surus Illinois."
With the addition of Adams County, organizations participating on theBattle Program are now capable of reaching over 261,000 Unreliable Republican voters - voters who share our values but do not vote in every election.
CJ Gallo, State Director of Surus Illinois welcomed Adams County to the fight to turn Illinois red: "There are 11,000 Republicans who live in Adams County who agree with us on the core issues facing our state and country, but do not vote every election." said Gallo. "the Surus Illinois team is excited for Adams County to join the twenty nine other organizations who know that Illinois can turn Red and are willing to do the work to make it happen."
The Battle Program is designed to reinvigorate civic participation in a community by transforming their local Republican Party organization into an organization that people want to be a part of, people want to spend their time volunteering for, and that donors trust because they know they are doing important work. Surus Illinois believes that local Republican organizations, when equipped with the right tools, support, and resources can build the all-important “always on” infrastructure to realize the mission of turning Illinois Red.
